Farewell, Morocco Farewell, Morocco, we are flying home. It is such a shame that Fez was ours for only one day. I would gladly have stayed longer in that magical hotel, wandering the web of streets and drinking in the vivid flashes of silk, carpets and spices. I would have immersed myself in Eastern life, with all its opulence and poverty, squalor and splendour, breathing the hot air of Morocco and gradually becoming part of it. The crew of Lady Mary have said goodbye to the boat for a few months. The Altai Mountains await us, along with a road trip to the Southern Urals, reunions with friends, mountain hikes... A little farewell of sorts to the people and places dear to us. After all, we now have long-distance voyages in our plans. In autumn, we set off across the Atlantic. Soon we will write about how we resolved the schooling question, what useful things we know about seasickness and life aboard, and even... about last year’s flooding in the Altai Republic, which cut us off from civilisation. A splash of colour from the Eastern bazaars, in photographs from Fez—the favourite jewel in Morocco’s ornate necklace. Wishing everyone a bright summer!
