A Yacht for a Circumnavigation Nauticat 40, built in 1988 The circumnavigation yacht Lady Mary Length 12 m, maximum beam 4 m, draught 1.77 m. Ketch/cutter rig (two masts—the mainmast and mizzenmast—as well as two headsails—a 120% genoa and a 3/4 staysail, set on two forestays). Displacement: 14 tonnes. The sail wardrobe includes an almost-new genoa and staysail, a well-worn mainsail and mizzen (we have since had new ones made, while these are now spares), a reasonably decent gennaker, and brand-new storm mainsail and storm staysail. There is also a spinnaker pole for the mast and headsails. The boat has two helm stations—one in the cockpit and one in the wheelhouse. The instruments are duplicated accordingly. The tanks hold 600 litres of fuel and the same amount of water. A 90 hp Lehmann diesel engine is installed. Diesel consumption is approximately 5 litres per hour. The engine is low-revving, with a cruising speed of 1,400 rpm at around 6.5 knots.
