Smolenskaya Polar Station
Travely-Family · Fedor Konyukhov · RUSARC. From a seasonal camp to a permanent Russian polar station in Antarctica.
How it began
The first season
The future station project on Smolensk (Livingston) Island was prepared over several years. During the 2025/26 season, Fedor Konyukhov's solo seasonal station operated here.
The expedition team delivered equipment and established a tent camp where Fedor lived and worked during the Antarctic season.
At the end of the season, the camp was completely dismantled and the tents, equipment and other materials were removed from the island in accordance with Antarctica's strict environmental requirements.

2026/27 season
The next stage – a permanent station
In the new Antarctic season we return to Smolensk Island with Fedor Konyukhov. The expedition's task is to build a permanent Russian polar station.
Permanent residential modules will be delivered and installed on the island, forming the basis for the station's further development.
Expedition participants will not simply observe. Together with the team, they will help land and move equipment, support logistics and organisation, and take a direct part in installing the station.
