The Equator and Our First Catch. Ocean, Day 16 Yesterday, Lady Mary crossed the equator once again, stepping from the Southern Hemisphere into the Northern. This teleportation has now happened to us for the fourth time. Four years ago, we crossed into the Southern Hemisphere near the Galápagos Islands. There, we held a Neptune’s Day celebration in the style of Captain Vrungel, screening the cartoon and singing Neptune’s song from it. And then the captain and I were nearly eaten by sharks (see the posts “Sharks!!!” and “The Equator!” on the website). The second and third times, we dashed across the equator and back in November last year, two weeks before completing our first circumnavigation. And now, by express delivery, we have already passed the halfway point of our second circumnavigation and entered the Northern Hemisphere; in another day and a half, we will also hop across the International Date Line from the Western Hemisphere into the Eastern.
