Our Yachting Journey Began with Our Child’s Asthma: The Road to Sailing Around the World – photo 1

How our child’s bronchial asthma set us on the path to sailing around the world.

It was asthma that pushed us towards sailing—and ultimately towards a round-the-world voyage. Our daughter’s health was getting worse by the day, and her asthma attacks were becoming more frequent. Meanwhile, the idea of living aboard a yacht while sailing around the world remained an impossible childhood dream. Wrapped up in work, arguments and our daughter’s treatment, we had even forgotten that we had once dreamed of sails and a voyage around the world. And then we found ourselves on the brink. Either we changed everything, or we remained the unhappy parents of a sick child.

We chose change. We found a treatment, went to the Altai Mountains, saw a sign and... This video is about the steps we took towards the sea. No sugar-coating—how hard it was, how it all began and why we did not turn back. Our route out of crisis and into a round-the-world sailing voyage through some of the most beautiful and inaccessible places on the planet.
