Classic Dutch schooner

Amazone

A large two-masted schooner converted for extended expeditions and independent operations in polar waters.

About the vessel

A classic sailing vessel for long-distance expeditions

Amazone was built in 1963 and spent many years working as a fishing vessel in the North Sea. In 1993, she was converted into a sailing vessel for regular charter voyages.

Today she is a modern two-masted expedition schooner. The project is associated with Dutch yacht designer Olivier van Meer, and the vessel is equipped for extended journeys in polar regions.

Spacious interiors, extensive onboard facilities and two landing boats make Amazone well suited to longer Antarctic programmes.
